The care
ritual.
Down rewards a little care with a lifetime of loft. Mild detergent, gentle heat, and the occasional fluff — that's very nearly all of it.
Gentle water, mild soap
The wash
- Machine-wash at up to 40°C with a mild detergent — only a drop of softener, or the fill power suffers.
- A large front-loading drum at low spin — wet down can quadruple in weight.
- Clusters clump in the wash; shake the duvet loose by hand for a few minutes after.
0°Cmaximum — water and drum alike
Low heat, high patience
The dry
- Dry naturally and shake well — the kindest way back to full loft.
- Or tumble low, below 37°C; hotter air costs the clusters their spring.
- Dryer balls re-fluff as it turns. Make sure it is bone-dry before it returns to the bed.

Spots, airing, everyday life
The revive
- Minor spills: spot-clean with mild detergent and warm water — never abrasive scrubbing.
- Air-dry the spot fully before the bedding goes back on.
- A morning shake and a monthly airing keep the down fresh between washes.
